Two years ago three Des Moines lady comics (or as some people call them…comics) came together with a mission – invite a group of stellar, up and coming female stand-up comics to Des Moines for a big, messy, hilarious, raucous Galentines Day show. It would be a great way to showcase regional talent that otherwise would be lost to the Des Moines audience. And guess what? They did it! And then again the next year to a sold out audience! And AGAIN THIS YEAR! WE BAD! WE BACK!
The Basement Bar at Des Moines Social Club hosts an all-female comedy lineup of out of towners, in towners, and used to be towners this Saturday, February 11th at 9:30pm for The 3rd Annual Galentines Day Comedy Show!
Galentines Day is committed to hosting skilled comics from hot beds of American comedy. This year we bring from Chicago Deanna Ortiz (Two Hour Comedy Hour, The Lincoln Lodge, Hoo Ha Comedy), Audrey Jonas(Hoo Ha Comedy), Megan Stalter (Hoo Ha Comedy), and former Des Moines comics/Galentines producers producers Madeleine Russell and Kate Bennett. From Denver comes Mara Wiles (High Plains Comedy Festival) and former Des Moines Comic/Galentines producer Rachel Weeks. We’ve also brought some bright local stars for your amazement! Sophia Smarandescu (DG’s TapHouse Comedy Showcase in Ames) will join for a guest set! The evening will be hosted by Iowa’s most handsome/mis matched comedy duo Tommy Morgan, Jr. and Tomme O’Neill. And a special appearance by Chicago’s “The Ashleys!”
The Basement Bar is located at The Des Moines Social Club under the Kum and Go Theater at 901 Cherry St. Doors open at 9pm and show starts at 9:30pm. Tickets are $15 at the door and $10 in advance
